Artist StatementAs a painter, my subject matter has always been focused on and intrigued by the constant bombardment of images we consume every day. My current paintings reflect my response to media culture, mixed with my own personal experiences. Previously, I used found images, logos, signs, along with commercial packaging and advertising in my art work in order to convey the social, economic, and cultural climate of contemporary times. With my current body of work, I seek to remove my previous emphasis on using found and appropriated imagery from popular culture exclusively in order to concentrate more on my conceptual goals as my artistic practice evolves, producing what I feel is a new direction for me.
