For his sixth and final exhibition at Assembly Gallery (generously hosted by You Me Gallery), John Haney presents photographs, drawings, and sculpture from new and ongoing series which consider the important relationships in our lives — with partners, parents, siblings, children, ourselves. This work is about being halfway somewhere. What have we gained, what have we lost? What happens in the spaces in between? Once we achieve what we think we want, what then?
__

JOHN HANEY lives in an old farmhouse on the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy, in Wood Point, New Brunswick. Using a broad range of visual media, he makes work about place, history, stories, and the slipperiness of language. He has been long-listed for the Sobey Art Award, and was a nominee for the Scotiabank Photography Award. His work has been shown at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, The Rooms (St. John’s), Art in the Open (Charlottetown), and the Owens Art Gallery (Sackville, NB). He is represented by Christina Parker Gallery (St. John’s), Emerson Gallery Berlin (Berlin, DE), and has been a member of Assembly Gallery since its inception. In 2019 he founded Wood Point Art Projects which launched with the inaugural, 22-artist event The Ark.
