This body of work is influenced by the medium (oil paint) and comes from a place of intuitive play.
The paintings should feel like a place in the same way that a smell can transport you somewhere distant. The works are inspired by memories of places, slightly altered and hazy they signify people and moments that exist in the minds eye.
Destiny Grimm is an emerging artist In 2015 she graduated from OCAD University with the Robbie Prize.
Currently Grimm is working on sculptural paintings incorporating the obscure beauty found within developing industrial spaces. She fuses found/industrial materials with oil paint. Contradicting the linear narrative of painting, her colourful yet spooky work is a visualization that speaks to ideas of self-discovery and fear challenging what a painting can be.
